What's new in Pomelo

We develop Pomelo continuously. This page collects what changed in each version, with the most recent at the top.

Within each version, New covers what has been added, Improved what now works better than before, and Fixed the faults that have been put right. Not every version has all three headings.

v2026.39.0

New

  • The pulse survey now includes a question about gender, with the answer options Boy, Girl, Other and Prefer not to say.
  • In Statistics you can split "How the class answered" by gender. Groups with fewer than five answers are not shown, so no individual pupil's answer can be worked out.

Improved

  • The chart of the class's strengths is now shown even when the pulse survey produced only one or two strengths. Three were previously required.
  • When no strength recommendations can be shown, the text now says why: either too few pupils answered before the pulse survey closed, or the questions need to be looked at by support.

v2026.38.0

New

  • The comparison views can now be narrowed to municipal or independent schools. When you pick Municipality, Country or Global you can see all schools, only the municipal ones or only the independent ones.
  • An independent school can compare itself with the other schools under its school group. The School group option is shown only for independent schools — for a municipal school the school group is the municipality.
  • A finished class project now shows a summary: when it ended, the class's strengths from the pulse survey, and which strength and exercise each round trained.
  • The pulse survey has new questions. Pupils rate how good they are at different things on a four-point scale with emojis, and the questions are split into two parts: first how the class works together, then what the pupil does themselves. Results from earlier pulse surveys are unaffected.

Improved

  • Class projects and exit tickets started for demonstration or training purposes are no longer counted in any statistics. The figures now show only the school's own work.
  • Dialogs can be answered from the keyboard. Enter presses the preselected button and tabbing stays inside the box. Where the action cannot be undone, such as closing a survey early or deleting something, Cancel is preselected.
  • The training period in a class project is now given as 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month. A number of days often raised the question of whether school days were what counted.
  • From Detailed statistics you can now click your way back to the class project at the top of the page. The way back was previously through the menu on the left.

Fixed

  • Under Classes, the buttons for adding users, editing and deleting were hard to hit. The pointer had to be exactly on the icon, otherwise the class started being dragged instead. The buttons now have a larger area and can be clicked without the drag taking over.
  • When a dialog opened, keyboard focus stayed on the button behind it, so pressing Enter pressed that button once more. Focus now lands in the box straight away.
  • A finished class project looked as though it were still on the Check-in step and showed the text "This phase is not implemented yet". The step could also be clicked, and led on to a check-in with a login code for a survey that was closed.
  • A class project that was ended while the pulse survey was running went on showing the pulse survey as if it were live, with a login code for the pupils.
  • Under Classes it was not possible to remove anyone from a group that had no teacher and no person responsible. Pomelo replied that the group must keep at least one, even though it had none. The removal now goes through.
  • Sign-in answered differently depending on whether an email address existed at the school, so outsiders could work out by trial who works there. The answer now looks the same whatever the address.

v2026.37.0

New

  • A new Data viewer role and a new Statistics section. Someone with the role sees every class in the school as a list, opens a class and reads how the pupils answered in Strength School's pulse surveys and in Exit ticket — without being able to change anything. The role is set on the user under Users & licensing, and it is granted separately from the administrator role so it can go to someone on the student welfare team who does not administer the school.
  • A class project or an exit ticket answered by fewer than two pupils appears in Statistics with the number of answers but no results, and a line explaining why. The same limit already applies in the teacher's own views.

Improved

  • The left-hand menu has a new order: first what you work in (Strength School, Exit ticket), then what that work produced (Follow-up, Statistics), and after that the school's settings (Classes, Users & licensing, Notifications, SSO, Settings). The line through the middle of the menu is gone — it split the menu by permission, which was only visible if you knew which roles you held.
  • Schools under the same school operator can now share a single redirect URI for signing in with a Microsoft or Google account. Previously each school registered its own address with the identity provider, and staff could not get in until that was done. The address to register is shown under SSO.
  • Schools that get their classes from Skolon no longer get pupil accounts. The sync counts the pupils and fills in the number on the class, and the pupil accounts created earlier are removed. Pupils answer as before with the code they get from their teacher, and the number under Classes can still be corrected by hand.

Fixed

  • A pupil who clicked the Skolon sign-in met an English error message under a Swedish heading. It now says in the school's own language that pupils sign in with the code they get from their teacher. The same applies to the other messages shown during Skolon sign-in, for example when the school's licence is missing.

v2026.36.0

New

  • In the results for an Exit ticket you can now choose which of the suggestions you want to work with, and save your choice.
  • A school can now be set up so that staff sign in only through the school's own sign-in or Skolon. Neither the one-time code nor the password is then shown on the sign-in page. Students answering a survey with a QR code or a code are unaffected.

Improved

  • The way results are presented for an Exit ticket has been reworked and now matches Strength School.
  • Student questions in Strength School are now presented in a random order for each student.
  • Under Single Sign-On (SSO), the Domain / Tenant field is shown only for Microsoft, the one provider that uses it.

Fixed

  • On the sign-in page, the "Sign in with username" button could stick out beyond its background. Both options now fit inside the box.
  • Messages shown when a sign-in was refused appeared in English — for example "You are not a member of any class" — even at a school whose language is not English. They are now shown in the school's language.
  • The "Log in with Skolon" button on the school's own sign-in page led to an error at Skolon instead of signing you in. It now works, just as it does when Pomelo is opened from the Skolon portal.

v2026.35.0

New

  • As an administrator you can now follow up on how the school uses Pomelo under Follow-up. There you see what each class has actually done — class projects, training periods and exit tickets — and a list of what stands in the way: classes without a teacher, classes without a year group, and accounts that have never signed in. Every row takes you straight to the class or the account it concerns.

Improved

  • If you see more classes than your own under Strength School and Exit ticket, the list is now split into My classes and Other classes, so you can see at a glance which ones are yours. If you only have your own classes, the list looks the same as before.
  • The class projects in the list now show the name of the class above the project name. Previously only the project name was shown, so a school running the same project in several classes got a row of identical cards.
  • The result details showed an average score and a number of responses for every question. Both have been removed — the average hides the spread that the distribution below the question shows, and the number of responses was the same for every question because students answer the whole pulse check. The question type is now also on the same line as the question.

Fixed

  • A teacher responsible for a year group saw the class projects and exit tickets for the classes inside the group, but the names of those classes could not be shown — the card had no name, or a technical code. The class name is now shown.
  • The pulse check in Strength School suggested the strengths the class was already strongest in. It now suggests the strengths the class has most to gain from training.
  • In the results, the highest answer was always coloured green and the lowest red, even on questions where it is the other way round — on "How often do you feel left out?" the most worrying answer therefore looked the best. The colour is now decided by which end of the scale is actually the desired one.

v2026.34.0

Improved

  • An administrator who also teaches now sees the class projects and exit tickets for their own classes rather than the whole school's. The lists are shorter and cover the work they are actually doing.
  • Classes and groups are now listed in alphabetical and numerical order rather than in the order they were created, both under Classes and My classes. The order also applies to groups that sit inside another group.
  • The notifications under the bell icon now show the date they were published.
  • The countdown clock is gone when students answer an Exit ticket. None of the other surveys had one, and a ticking clock makes it harder to answer calmly.
  • The result of an Exit ticket now shows the response distribution and the comparison with other schools in separate tabs, just as in Strength School. The comparison used to sit at the bottom of the page and was easy to miss.
  • When the whole class has answered the check-in in Strength School, Pomelo now moves on to the next step automatically. It already worked that way for the pulse check.

Fixed

  • A teacher responsible for an overarching group, for example Year 5, did not see the class projects and exit tickets for the classes inside it. Everything belonging to the groups they are responsible for is now shown, all the way down.
  • The lists of class projects and exit tickets sometimes moved the teacher to a project's page on their own, in the middle of reading. They no longer do.
  • An Exit ticket where only one student had answered showed the error "Could not load project" instead of the results page. Pomelo now explains that the result cannot be shown until more have answered, as intended. The same applies when nobody has answered at all.
  • The Redirect URI field under SSO looked like an ordinary editable field even though it can only be copied from. It is now clearly marked as read-only.
  • Improved contrast on several fields and graphical elements for better usability.

v2026.33.0

New

  • Teachers can now see their own classes under Classes and keep the number of students up to date themselves. That number decides how many responses are expected when the class answers anonymously.

Improved

  • When a class cannot be created, Pomelo now shows that class licences are the reason — how many the school has, or that the school has none at all.
  • The credentials page now refers to users rather than students, since the list also covers staff.

Fixed

  • An administrator who is also a teacher previously saw only the users in their own classes when generating credentials. The whole school is now shown.
  • Teachers can now also reach the users in classes that sit beneath a group they are responsible for, and can always reset their own password.
